Three Healthcare Firms Made Debuts on the Nasdaq Exchange

​Last week, three health care companies made their Nasdaq trading debut, raising a total of $390 million in equity capital. Twist Bioscience and Axonics Modulation Technologies, both from California, along with Orchard Therapeutics from London, debuted their initial public offerings despite a volatile couple weeks in the stock market. 

• Twist Bioscience, a Bay Area biotech, had its initial public offering last Wednesday, raising $70 million. Twist specializes in engineering synthetic DNA strands for enterprise clients, large and small. The synthetic DNA can be used by these companies to design drugs to treat a range of diseases or improve taste quality in food products.

• London-based Orchard Therapeutics debuted on the Nasdaq exchange last week, raising $200 million. Orchard is utilizing the potential of ex vivo autologous gene therapy to correct genetic disorders. In this therapy, stem cells are removed from the patient and transplanted back into the body.

• Axonics Modulation Technologies, a Los Angeles-based medical technology company, raised $120 million in its IPO on Wednesday. The company is focused on the design, development, and commercialization of minimally invasive sacral neuromodulation solutions for overactive bladders and urinary retention.
