Ceridian IPO Breaks Minnesota Record

​In a slow week of initial public offerings (IPOs), a Washington-based company broke a 14-year dry spell of tech IPOs in the Silicon Forest, and a Minnesota company broke the State’s largest IPO record.

• Laser manufacturer nLight Corp. debuted on the Nasdaq on Thursday, trading under the ticker LASR. The Vancouver, Washington-based company is a leading provider of high-power semiconductor and fiber lasers. The IPO helped the company raise approximately $96 million in what was the “Silicon Forest’s” first tech IPO in nearly 14 years.

• In Minnesota’s largest-ever IPO, Ceridian HCM Holding raised more than $450 million Thursday. Ceridian, a private equity-backed successor to Control Data Corp., is a global human capital management software company. The company’s primary product, Dayforce, provides payroll, benefits, and workforce and talent management services to more than three thousand customers.
