Brazilian e-Commerce Payment Processor Raises $1.2 Billion

​New York Stock Exchange data shows that only four firms debuted on the U.S. public exchanges last week. The group raised a total of $1.6 billion, most of which came on the back of StoneCo’s $1.2 billion IPO. Other market first-timers include Pintec Technology and Gamida Cell. Also making headlines, Cloudflare announced its preparations for a $3.5 billion 2019 public debut.

• Pintec Technology (NAS: PT), a China-focused financial technology firm, raised $44.2 million in its initial public offering last week. The firm started as a platform for peer-to-peer lending but has since diversified into other computer-based financial and business solutions.

• Brazilian payment processor StoneCo (NAS: STNE) debuted on the Nasdaq exchange, raising $1.2 billion in financing. The company has been compared to other payment processors such as PayPal or Square, providing solutions to enable buyers and sellers to complete e-commerce transactions.

• Boston-based Gamida Cell (NAS: GMDA) began trading its shares last week on the Nasdaq and raised $50 million in financing. A clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company, Gamida Cell is focused on developing cell therapies for cancer treatment, specifically its NiCord program for bone marrow transplants.

• Cloudflare, a U.S. Internet and network services company, announced it is planning for a $3.5 billion 2019 initial public offering. The firm offers content delivery network and cybersecurity software services that allow websites to load faster and safer for end users.
